Two classics for the price of one, good deal eh? Indeed, considering that one of these two WWF (now WWE) ppvs kick started a career that would become legendary. I am of course talking about The Undertaker headlining Survivor Series and cemeting a 15 year (and still going) reign for himself at the top of Sports Entertainment. Survivor Series 1991: Undertaker vs. Hulk Hogan - The Immortal One vs The Immovable Object! Hard to believe that the relatively new superstar The Undertaker would be in the main event at one of the biggest events of the WWF calendar. This proved to be one of Hulk's biggest tasks, to beat the unbeatable. Legion of Doom & Big Boss Man vs. Earthquake, Typhoon, & IRS - Not much history between any of these teams which really let down the match. The Nasty Boys & The Beverly Brothers vs. The Rockers & The Bushwhackers - A pretty good mixture of talents in this match from speed (Rockers) and comedy (Bushwhackers) to technical skill (Beverly) and ring experience (Nasty Boys). It really keeps the viewers interested by switching between styles. Sgt. Slaughter, Jim Duggan, Texas Tornado & Tito Santana vs. Col. Mustafa, The Berzerker, Skinner & Hercules - The newly turned patriotic sergeant, Sgt. Slaughter teamed up with three well loved wrestlers to take on four misfits. Flair, The Mountie, DiBiase & Warlord vs. Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Virgil & The British Bulldog - A real battle between feuding superstars in this one. Bulldog, one of the very few men to break out of Warlord's punishing Full Nelson. Virgil, the former bodyguard (slave) of DiBiase. Survivor Series 1992: Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels - The soon to be most memorable feud (but for the wrong reasons). Hart, "The Excellance of Execution", made it all the way to the top of the wrestling ladder with his short promos and unique wrestling style. Whereas Michaels was the loveable rogue who did anything to get what he wants. Two of the best (in my opinion) superstars to ever be part of the WWF/E. Undertaker vs. Kamala - This was the first ever Casket Match and the rules stated that the winner would be the man who pinned his opponent and then place him into the casket, closing the lid. The Nasty Boys, Earthquake & Typhoon vs. Money Inc. & The Beverly Brothers - Not really much to say about this match. Yokozuna vs. Virgil - A very odd match, a huge 500 pound man versus a small and quite inexperienced rookie. Randy Savage & Mr. Perfect vs. Razor Ramon & Ric Flair - Perfect & Savage, maybe the most unlikely tag team ever but once the match was flowing they had the same kind of sparkle that Mega Powers (Hogan & Savage) once had. Flair was at the top of his game proving that he still had years of wrestling in him. Tatanka vs. Rick Martel - Martel had stolen a very precious feather from Tatanka, this match was to end their short and pointless feud. Big Boss Man vs. Nailz - The first ever "Nightstick on a Pole" match between prison guard Bossman and escaped convict Nailz. The Headshrinkers vs. High Energy - High Energy (Owen Hart & Koko B.Ware) were quite like the Rockers with their speed and colourful clothes. But their biggest challenge was the samoan natives, The Headshrinkers. Overall the PPVs are pretty good but its a shame that by 1992 they had stopped producing a line-up of elimination matches. Also it would be great if they had added special features. However these are still classics and contain matches that were the key to some careers. A MUST WATCH!Read full review
A great bit of nostalgia brings back some great memories. Brings together the two volumes originally Released on VHS Back in the day so there are no special features but the DVD does have scene select so you can pick your favourite matches or you can play all and watch every glorious moment.
