This replaces an ancient egg slicer and though it looks exactly the same, it's much lighter and I suspect not as sturdy as my previous one. Having said this, it does the job well and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it lasts a reasonable time.

On the very first slice of an egg the wires came undone. I can't imagine what would have happened If I had tried to slice a cucumber. The metal it was made from was so thin that it was unable to grip the cutting wires with enough force to keep them in place.

The frame is made from thin gauge stamped stainless steel. The frame twists as you try to slice, what is advertised as being able to slice, causing the wires to catch on the slots. Do not waste your money on this product!
