    Very good

Very good but slightly disappointing. The first track is absolutely fantastic - this made me by the CD. But the majority of the rest are a bit "samey". But the raw rock 'n' roll bluesy sound, as if they are playing live, is really great.

    Blues, no soul

This wasn't the album I'd expected but it is still great stuff. In interviews at the time, I remember phrases like "back to our roots" and "stripped down blues classics". So I'd imagined something a bit more acoustic, a bit rawer. I'd hoped it would show how well the chaps have endured and could still sing blues with a feeling. But what we have is a fairly homogeneous bunch of not especially well engineered B-sides from the 50s and 60s. Competent but not outstanding.

  • stones new album below par,

Sorry to say I got the new album with high hopes as they have returned to their roots. I am old now and was a lad when they first came on the scene. Unfortunatly, if this is the best they can do its time to call it a day. The songs are okif a bit boring, but I found the quality of the recording was below par, the sound being fuzzy, out of focus. Played the album once but cant be arsed with it. Disappointed.

  • Just a Little Red Rooster?

This is the music that The Rolling Stones were born with, its what they do best. If you like the blues and The Rolling Stones, then you'll love this album. They've gone right back to the roots of the music they love and given us an album to savour. If you're a Stones fan who enjoyed Get yer Ya Ya's out and Let it Bleed, you will probably love this album of original blues songs from some of the best Blues men of the day, being played by The Stones. I dig it, but I've always loved The Blues of Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker et al. Keep on Trucking!

  • Not so blue!

Certainly more "bluesy" than most of their stuff, but very mediocre! Lots of great blues bands out there to listen to(hint to Mick and Kieth) Might get better with more listenings

  • A "Blues" must have

Great to hear the Stones getting back to basics and their roots. Also good that they didn't choose the common and oft-played blues classics preferring instead to get stuck into lesser known blues numbers. Shows they can still produce the goods and show how it should be done with feeling and understanding. Now for Vol 2?

  • Not their best work

The clue is in the title! Maybe it needs 3 or 4 plays to get the feel for the thing but I found myself skipping tracks to find something that was a familiar Keef Blues.
