A great alternative to a standard freewheel because it has the really useful 'get out of trouble' low gear when your thigh muscles are burning on a steep climb. Usually, good quality Shimano kit should be robust and reliable. I do a high mileage but generally get a couple of years (7000+ miles) out of one of these, though you must use a quality chain and have a regular clean and lubrication regime in place.
