Astonishingly poor design assembly and quality
Since when did anything out of Germany arrive as cheap nasty badly assembled plastic equipment intended to go in a workshop? When my package arrived I immediately contacted the supplier and advised them that the assembly was shambolic. The motor support shaft had not been installed and the loose motor had taken its toll during transport damaging the motor support stay and the bearing surface. On opening the instruction manual there was scant information on how to assemble the unit. (Possibly as this should have already been done). Once assembled it became apparent that the drive system relied on a steel shaft with high torque turning a large rubber lined wheel with low torque. In my view a recipe for disaster as it would only be a matter of time before the rubber liner became compromised and the running gear become uneven. The barest minimum of gadgetry was enclosed to provide a clamping system as if it was intended to ensure you had to purchase the next level of clamping. The leather wheel was a strip of leather mm thick which have a limited life before what? The stone wheel was a good quality aluminium oxide grit but wasn't true to the axis and would require 5-10 mm of dressing to achieve true. I replaced it with a metal geared system from Axminster which was cheaper, without the pretensions of a clamping system and made of steel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value and effective, but poor set up instructions
Seems a good entry level machine. First attempt at grinding was very effective. Quality is generally good and good value for money. My only beef is against the pretty poor to non-existent set up instructions and a below par user manual. I think Scheppach could do much better in that area given the quality of their machines. Well worth having whetstone
Much cheaper than the Tormek and Triton, and it works well. I re-edged 10 chisel in an hour. The only difficulty I had was ensuring that the chisel tip was exactly perpendicular to the stone, but a metal ruler soon sorted that out. schepach have produced a fairly close approximation of the ultimate in waterstone sharpening systems yet the honing wheel leaves much to be desired the price is a good reflection of the quality i have been able to adapt the jigs for the purpose i use it for and therefore am quite happy with this item.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Bundled optional accessory pack should be an option
Good stable product, well worth having if you have the bench space. Would think most users would benefit from the knife holder if priced in with the basic kit and only available as a relatively expensive optionaly accessory. Scheppach whetstone grinder
