Capable for its size
It is what it is. It's 18 volts and has numerous protective features which protect both the user from the saw and the saw from the user. The bar is only about 23cm but that doesn't make this a toy! It is a top handle chainsaw and in that it's design requires a proper level of training to use safely. I find that it compliments owning a larger more powerful saw and its limitations will quickly be discovered in use, If you ask to much of it the LED will turn red and it will remain inoperative until it has cooled down.This will .put some people off it, but they will have unrealistic expectations of this very light very small and useful saw.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Useful tool
Have been using a 3amh battery and only lasts about 10 minutes have bought a 5 amh but not used it yet but should extend running time. Great for the garden and small jobs. SMALL BUT MIGHTY
All the features of a 2 stroke saw just as powerfull much lighter no fumes and minimal vibration make sure you use genuine makita battery to get good run time a silicon or rubber cover for battery would be a good idea as is recomended for tree surgery and i dont thnk would survive heavy impact? i wish i had one of these saws when i did tree surgery work would have been much easier.I am using mine for ground based work . fencing hedging etc and its brlliant buy one you wont regret it !!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Small but 'MIGHTY'
Lightweight, powerful and made the job of cutting 2" to 4" dia branches from two 75ft trees that were to be felled a task I was a bit dubious about but this little gem of a tool made it a lot easier and safer than my original plan (4amp hr batt used 50% for about 1.5 hrs work). This little saw is viable for light pruning and firewood up to three or 4 inch diameter at a push. It is designed for pruning, repeated firewood cutting will engage the thermal lockout unless you take your time.
