Not really given to typing out loud
I purchased this product to help me write letters on the computer. My right arm and hand have become severely disabled due to breast cancer, lymphedema, neuropathy and "drop wrist." I have a ministry to write to inmates, but because it was getting to be too difficult, I had to cut back. Anyway, I discovered this product and decided to give it a try. It does work! BUT, you have to give yourself enough time to become familiar with all the Commands to make it work seamlessly. I hope to become more proficient with time. Vs. 13's possibly the WORST version of Dragon to date.
I bought this 'updated' version thinking it would be an improvement over vs.11.5. Boy, was I wrong! First, it was d*mn near impossible to install; I had to work with Nuance's infamous tech [non]support multiple times without success. They finally had to issue me a whole new copy (via download) before I could 'use' it. Using it was a nightmare. Want to dictate 'out of the box' as Dragon advertises? Forget it. Ain't happening. You still have to go through interminable reading despite the fact your voice files from previous versions are there for it to use. Want to dictate emails or surf the Net? You first have to go to Google Play & download the web app. Think you'll be able to dictate directly into Gmail or other email provider? Nope. You have to first dictate into the 'Dragon Pad' then transfer your words to your draft. Here's where it gets REALLY frustrating: if you want to change something - anything - from punctuation to a misspelled word, you have to go back to the DragonPad, make your correction or change, then paste it into your draft. I can type manually over 3x faster without vs.13 than with it! Easy to use? No way, Jose. Their cheat sheet for 'quick' reference is 12 pages long! Keep in mind I've been using various versions of Dragon since they first came out & some versions have worked better than others. I finally uninstalled it & went back to 11.5. At least I could dictate sans the Dragon Pad Dragon Naturally Speak is quite possibly their WORST version to date. Perfect for authors
I work daily on the computer and the software allows to dictate freely. I would not recommend the software to someone who isn't advanced with the use of a computer, because it take a little bit practice to use it correctly. For professional use the software is great and the price is excellent. I have used other programs and softwares, but the outcome with the nuance software is definitely much greater. I wish it would be multilingual usable, since I am writing in German, English, French, Spanish, Turkish and Gaelic. That would be more than perfect, if they can develop a software for that kind of use. I recommend the product for professional use, not necessarily for private use. You basically have to make the program learn your accent and your way of speech to work correctly with minimal mistakes.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good Software. Brittle Headset.
After 1 month of use I recommend the product. Tip: Reinforce the headset around the narrow sections where it is adjustable. Mine broke simply removing them from my head! Nice Product, Great Support Staff
Too bad the support staff were necessary in the beginning, and my issue wasn't resolved. Dragon, unlike some cellphone apps like Google and SMS texting voice recognition, is like a baby and needs to be treated like one. It takes a very long time to train, and tame, this dragon. Dragon is a easy to install and easy to use piece of software. I am using it to write my life's story for my children and their children. A good starter package for the money.
I wanted to see how this technology was working after several years of development. The installation was longer than I thought but went without a major hitch. The microphone system via USB was easy to figure out. I find the speech recognition to be much better than I expected out of the box. There is a fairly steep learning curve that I am still in but I think I will get a lot of use out of this once I spend some more time with it. Right now I just haven't had the time to get really familiar with it. One negative notw... I have a fairly sophosticated audio system on my computer and this install did interfere with with using the audio inputs for my other program. I talked to Nuance about that and they were not able to help me much. I did resolve it by shutting down Nuance stuff running in the background when I didn't need it using Task Manager. be sure headset is usb
Made three calls to Nuance to try to get it to work, still not working properly. product would not write text into this box I had to do the text into office program copy and paste here. product came with headphones with plug-in jacks that would not work on my computer laptop I had to go by new headphones with the USB ports connections added additional cost of $26.
