GREAT sound, if a little light on bass
A single-unit soundbar handling 2.1 and virtualized 7.1.2 is going to have a lot on its plate, so to speak, in reproducing audio. Low-end bass, as well as surround and height channels, from a single bar is going to be challenging no matter who makes it (though apparently Yamaha and Sennheiser have both succeeded pretty well with their top-shelf examples). This is a decent offering from Sony that is nicely-designed, VERY easy to setup, and offers very good sound, especially with virtual Dolby Atmos. The subwoofer frequencies aren’t quite going to be what a separate subwoofer could actually handle, but it has decent balance and delivery! Center channel dialogue is well-done, and overall a worthy soundbar. Sonos’ Beam (2nd Generation) can now handle Atmos as well, and is a similar price point at MSRP; so, depending on what your needs are (do you like a lot of rumbling bass? Do you even care about Atmos / DTS:X audio?), this may be perfect for you as a relatively-simple solution for a bedroom or living room sound addition!
