It is what it is!!!! A 1990's games console but easy and straight forward to set up unlike the old megadrive which had wires all over the place. Plug adaptor into mains, connect hdmi to your telly and put batteries in your wi fi controllers and you're away!!! Screws for battery controllers a bit small and fiddly. I have to marvel at these games...good honest old fashioned enjoyment... not like games of today that are too close to real life in my opinion. Worth the money alone for Dr Robotnics mean bean machine... the best game ever in my opinion. Just love that game and can't get the addictive tunes in it out of my head. You also have all the sonic games and loads of others I've never played then if you get bored it's compatible with old sega cartridges. Overall...bags of fun playing 1990s games which to be fair were well ahead of there time. Great way to fill in some of those winter nights when the telly is rubbish. Still can't believe you get all this for less than 70 quid...has to be bargain of the century!!!!Read full review

So first of all the pros. It looks like the old mega drive, it takes the old cartridges (which was a great bonus), it has a hdmi output and the controllers are wireless! Yes they need batteries, but better than having wires (although there are ports for your old mega drive pads if you have them!) The negative for me is the game selection. The "85" games includes of 10-15 random basic games, much like the old school ones you would get on in flight entertainment 10 years ago. There are some master system games in there too. Then there are 8 different sonic games. And 4 Phantasy Syars, 3 Mortal Kombats, 3 Golden axes .... no Streets of rage, no Toejam and Earl, no Desert Strike, no Micro Machines, no Earthworm Jim ....... Its a shame, this could have been great.

It's basically a mini Mega Drive complete with cartridge slot on top and SD slot on the side. You can play old Mega Drive games in the system or get an SD card based emulator from eBay. The games are just as good as they were back in the 80's and 90's and unlike today's games they require a certain amount of player skill to complete. The two controllers are wireless versions of the 6-button Mega Drive controller that came out in the early 90's and they each require 2 x AAA batteries. Great stuff!

The concept of a retro-games system is good, but the execution is lacking. I was not expecting razor sharp graphics as the system is an attempt to reproduce my old favourite, the Mega Drive. The wireless controllers are a nice touch, reducing the number of trailing wires, and are ok to operate. The overall project is severely let down by the games freezing randomly, requiring the console to be restarted. Firmware updates (available at the company website) are available, but the system still freezes. Don't expect the simplicity of the just plugging in a game and playing either. The 85 games are available from the menu through a combination of button selections, not a major issue, but niggly. Overall, the system is what it is. If you're looking for retro-gaming, get an original Megadrive. I was left disappointed by this console.Read full review

Bought SEGA Mega Drive the other day and I must say it's not very well put together and cheap you need batteries for the controllers and SEGA Mega Drive itself is as light as a feather not worth the money

Unboxed it to test and just expected a console that would have games built in but it takes the old cartridges too! Pity you have to put batteries in the pads as they could be rechargeable. Not sure whether I’m going to gift it or keep it now!

The original console updated for modern TVs. Short HDMI cable is supplied. And, really, turn off Scan Line Filter (you only need to do this once) in order to make the games visually playable.
