Worth getting a second one if you're a Makita fan cos it's got a fan it's
Great little device, charges fast as it's fan cooled, has a chip that tells you more than you want to know about the condition of a Makita battery. I have a different top brand one that's very basic in comparison but costs more. The first DC18RC here came with two batteries in a kit including a case and impact driver, and opened the door to picking up more Makita tools as needed, some 36v (2x18v batteries) ones too. After that It was worth spending a little bit to get a second DC18RC to avoid waiting when charging one battery at a time. Makita cordless stuff is impressive, so more batteries and another (dual?) charger will be along soon. If you have similarly invested in a Makita battery platform, and only have the one charger, this is an investment in your time and toolbox.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Genuine charger from Makita that air cools the battery being charged. It's able to do this at a rapid rate for that reason. The charger also has adjustable alert sounds to inform you of when the charge is complete. Able to charge 14.4 and 18 v batteries. I was worried, initially, because it was silent, but I checked the manual and it has a choice of tones, and I pretty quickly realised that I could select the tune I wanted, or no tune at all. Initially when it was silent I thought it was faulty or less good quality, but actually it is in all ways better than my old one, though I have not had enough experience of it yet to decide if it is faster.
