    Really works as advertised

Got it for £18 (incl. shipping). Works well to extend the coverage of wifi from the main wifi router. Bandwidth is great, probably because it uses both 2.4 and 5ghz bands as back haul. One drawback is the weak security which cannot be changed

  • Most critical review

Good on the whole, a couple of niggles.

This repeater works, and is capable of pretty good throughput. As a bit of a tech-head, I want to be able to fine tune its operation. What I wanted to do was to connect the repeater to the main router using 5GHz WiFi and have it rebroadcast on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz. This it will do without any problems, but there is no way to configure which channel and channel bandwidth it will use on 2,4GHz. So I have a repeater connected over a fast link to my router, and it is using the same channel as the main router on 2.4GHz so they interfere with each other. Not so clever. I then came up with a bit of a hack - I set up my phone's WiFi access point on the channel I wanted the repeater to use and had the repeater connect to it on 2.4GHz and at the same time connect to the main router on 5GHz. The repeater was then using the channel I had selected for my phone's access point function. I then turned off the phone's access point which left the repeater using the channel I had selected and relaying the main router's connection from 5HGz to 2.4GHz in the way I wanted. Job done... but it would have been a lot easier if there was a configuration option for this!

  • TP-Link RE305 Good value extender that actually works.

This is not the best looking device but it does actually work very well. Connected effortlessly to my Fritz Box router on both channels and can be moved from room to room without the need to reprogram. Good range considering the low power to which our WiFi is limited. To sum up good value, works well and easy to set up. Recommended

  • Poor connectivity

I bought this to replace another TP Link extender that had a habit of dropping out. It was at least 6 years old so I stuck with the brand. This one is 2 band as I have a new BT smart hub. However it is slow and erratic to connect to my devices and I have only got it to work by shutting off the 5Khz band. Also the range is no better than the old model.

  • Working with Virgin Superhub 3

Does what it says and extends the signal of your current router by about 4-5 metres on both bandwidths. Don't expect miracles, it sufficiently covered our home dead spots, but if you need wider coverage you will need to spend a bit more. Needed to connect via app browser to setup and secure but there are plenty of instructions provided and the Location Assistant Tool is really helpful with placement to get the best extended signal. So far so good.

  • TP-Link RE305 WIFI-Range Extender problems

Bought from Currys , description says can be daisy chained to extend range easily . Not true, After 3 hours of fruitless attempts eventually got one to work by connecting to an ethernet passthrough extender . Tried connecting 2nd one via WIFI to router using the wps buttons and even when plugged into a power socket 2 meters from router would not connect. After contacting TP support got a reply stating it is not possible to link two extenders together as they become unstable and cause connection problems. My Advice DO NOT BUY these as they are a complete waste of time and money.

  • Works well and easy to configure

Works effectively and is easy to set up and configure via a web browser. Unlike my 2.4G extender that this was meant to replace it does not offer the option of advertising a second SSID (eg guest network), so it only gets 3 stars.

  • did not work for me, but looks good

Did not work for me when i tried to use it in a garage adjacent to my house. If i used it in the house, it did not boost the signal enough in the garage, and if i located it in the garage, there was insufficient signal to power the wifi. But was easy to set up and looked robust and neat,

  • Works very well and easy to setup.

Very easy too setup and provides a full signal to the parts of the home in which I need it. Only thing I found was the internal clock seems to be out of sync with the real world by about 3 hours! Just means I've had to offset the led switch on of times as the leds can be switch off overnight, which is great as the unit is plugged in in a bedroom. Still works without the leds on just means you don't have bright leds disturbing your sleep.

  • Ideal WiFi booster

Great little booster, connect with the wps button and that's about it. Clear instructions if you need them & more settings on app/pc if want them. Can even turn the small indication led lights off if you don't like/want them. Tidy and discrete & now have unbroken WiFi in far side of house & garden - finally. Play and play is a nice touch so remembers your settings if need to move it. Got a used/curry's return in a damaged box & was good as new for 1/2 the price & very pleased. Not tried the wired connection option yet but in doubt will work just well.
