Easy to apply and effective
I can't compare this product to its competitors, because in order to do so I would have to rip out all of the silent coat from my van, start again and try to remember how it is now to compare the results. Good news is, I have no desire to, because it is doing a good job. Even my partner and daughter appreciate the time and money spent making the ride quieter and more comfortable, and the enhanced enjoyment of the stereo that comes with it. It's very easy to apply (I recommend preheating the butyl surface with a heat gun or hair dryer) moulding around nooks and crannies without too much elbow grease necessary. Doesn't get too messy either and the grid pattern pressed into the foil speeds the process of cutting pieces to fit. For the money and effort, I am very happy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good product for dampening panel resonances
I used the 30 sheet (2mm thickness) pack of this in my Mercedes Vito panel van. I installed about 5 in each of the front doors (when installing better speakers), which deadened them fairly effectively. I placed a load on the back of the cabin/rear bulkhead, again effectively removing the harsh ringing of those thin sheet metals. I put the rest on the roof. I reckon for a really thorough job two large packs (60 sheets) would be about right. The road noise and quality of the audio from the in car entertainment is slightly improved. Considering the modest mass they add it's a good performance in my opinion, but would be nicely complemented by sound blocking and cavity resonance absorbing measures (in doors and probably something for the bonnet and/or cab floor!) Recommended. One word of advice: if you put a piece, be wary of running your fingers over the cut foil - I gave myself a very deep cut doing this.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Heavy Duty sound deadening for Big Bass!
Sound deaden your car with this very high quality product, I am doing a Honda Accord Hatchback 2002 and ordered 30 sheets' stripped all the trunk to bare metal and started to stick this stuff on, make sure you have a roller but not necessary as this stuff goes on wonderfully, put it this way I have yet to test this as My Sub the RE Audio XXX 15" hasn't gone in yet but my body panels will be punished and hopefully this stuff holds up if it does I am ordering more for the doors and front wings!, it looks nice and shiny with the logo 'SilenCoat' written on the foil side wish I could leave it like that put have to put my panels and carpet back on, price is good as well that's why I purchased this over other products, going to use some in the home to quite up the noisy boiler! This stuff will stick like a leech to an oily rag, just be sure to get it right first stick!! The amount of sound it stops is simply stunning, I put ONE patch on underside of my meriva petrol bonnet and was amazed, so I covered whole bonnet, then spare wheel area every one comments on how quiet it is, it just makes the tyres seem REALLY noisy now as that is all you can hear now, when I had a door pad of recently I put one on inside of the door skin, totally makes it sound a real quality thud on closing now. Works fantastic
I went with 50%coverage on the roof and patches around my landy. This made it much better. The bounce in the panels is now dull and quieter. This is my second box I've bought and it is much cheaper than other brands. Be careful you will cut yourself on the sharp edges of the foil. Excellent product.....
This is the second vehicle which I have used the Silentcoat on.... the first was a LWB Vivaro Crewbus and the pads were used on the inside of the body panels and doors: this made a huge difference and so when faced with a vehicle which suffered from excessive tyre noise it was a case of stripping out the boot panels and rear seats, and this has also made a great difference. I apply with a small decorator's seam roller and use a hair dryer to warm the pads.... the pads mould easily to odd shapes and undulations. Silent coat
Absolutely awesome stuff I've used all types of sound deadening before but can honestly say I'll be using this from now on .It looks as good as it does in the pictures and it's super sticky, there's no chance it will be falling off , it's easy to cut either with scissors, or a Stanley style knife when stuck down and there's a grid on the reverse so it's easy to mark and cut neatly . What I was impressed with is the way the sticky just nudges out the edge which I used to rub into the joints and create a seal and cover any minor untrue edges there was from my trimming , and most importantly was the reduction in noise that it's created in my boat, no more vibrations through the floor and the sound of the engine is reduced by about 60% I'd say . Bought 2 packs of this to do my renault master mwb high roof, enough to do all of the doors walls and roof plus 2 wheel arches, you don't need to cover a full panel, cutting in half and thirds produced a very quiet van placing the pieces in the center of the panels, use a heat gun or hair dryer to make them more flexible and stick better
