Oil is oil, pick a reputable brand and stick to it. Really, no single brand has published scientific evidence that their products are superior to another company. I would have gone with Putoline for my KTM 690 but I had trouble finding 10w60 at a sensible price, so I went with the manufacturer recommendation of Motorex as I could find it discounted. The reason for sticking with a brand is because one brand might use a slightly different additive package to another. Not that it should cause a problem, but you'll be replacing like with like, only cleaner.

  • Oil Recommended for 2012 KTM Duke 690

It's what's recommended in the manual and used by their race teams for a reason, it is high quality oil for high revving , punchy engines. I believe it was developed specifically for KTM singles (though obviously can be used in other makes and/or engines) and caters for the shear characteristics of them. Anyhow, it's what I stick to along with genuine service kits or filters, other brands would obviously be as good but as they're all pretty much close in price i've kept to Motorex. It is ok value (just under £50) as these types of oil are not cheap, but we'd all like to pay a bit less I guess.

  • Husky 570 aircooled twnshock

I just changed oil brand and went for this because of its high multi grade viscosity range, ability to work in high temperature engines and with wet clutches. Since changing, no engine failures and the clutch is behaving well. Early days but so far so good. I change oil every meeting, it’s seems to have less contamination than the previous oil prob because the clutch is no longer slipping under high loads.
