If you only read one book this year be sure it is this book.
If you read only one book this year then be sure it is this book. You will be astonished. You will be unable to put it down. I bought the book in a charity shop. I bought more copies to share with other people on ebay and I bought several volumes to give away and also give as presents for forthcoming birthdays and at Christmas. The book itself is an excellent account of the Trump Family in general and the former President in particular. Slightly dated now as it ends in the midst of the covid19 crisis Mary Trump takes us through an eye witness account of her perspective of her family. Her account is amazing and all backed up by clear verifiable evidence and a 14000 word article published in the New York Times. I ve never seen anything like this. Hard to put down, harrowing, courageous.
This is a very well written book telling the story of the Trump family and their financial and relationship complications. Ms Trump gives a deeply personal account that I think must have been extremely difficult and painful for her, especially regarding her father's declining mental health and how it impacted on her immediate family. It demonstrates the depravity that money dealings can bring out of people and the corruption that goes along with many big business empires. Do not look for humour in this book, nor much love or compassion. Largely, it is depressing, anger-inducing and in parts even sickening. However, it is a vitally important story that needed telling and Mary L Trump is the best person to tell it. A must-read
What an insight into a dysfunctional family! From the first pages, I was completely engrossed and found the book very hard to put down. It's very well written and offers an intimate view of one of the world's richest and best-known families, as well as attempting to make sense of the manner in which a lack of empathetic parenting with unrealistic expectations gave rise to, on one hand, a son who was made to feel guilty for wishing to pursue a perfectly legitimate career as an airline pilot and, on the other, a son who was, and still is, far too full of himself and completely out of touch with reality. As the Presidential Election approaches, I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn about what makes a certain person tick - someone who, in my view, is potentially extremely dangerous.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
