From One Who Had Polio
I had polio in 1953 and nearly died! I learned about this DVD from a member of the Post Polio Support group that I belong to. I have read several book about polio and seen a few DVD's about it. But I have to say that this video does an excellent job explaining what the disease is all about. There are parts of the video that are hard for me to watch because they bring back vivid memories and sounds that still haunt me. For someone who never had the disease the video is worth watching so that one can learn about how terrible the disease was for the victims and the families of the victims. The information contained in this video should be required learning in all school health and medical classes. Many times I have been in doctor's offices or in hospitals where the workers have not even heard of polio. Also, I feel that all people in all nations should have the opportunity to have the polio "shot" to immunize them from this horrible disease.
