  • Good titles, bad sound.

Although the collection of titles are artists is a good mix including many more obscure but yet entertaining artists, the quality of the sound is very poor on most tracks. I have no idea what the source for the audio was, but to be honest most of these sound better when played off my old, worn scratchy 45's. Many tracks sound quite muffled, as if the speaker was buried in a box of Kleenex, on played on a tape machine with dirty heads, most tracks have no sparkle or presence at all. If you find it cheap enough it's a nice way to sample artists you may not be familiar with, and then you know which records or other tracks to seek out from a better audio source. And I still can't figure out the source for "The Auctioneer" by Leroy Van Dyke that's in this collection. This is NOT the 1956 Dot records version. Van Dyke re-recorded this song many times for many other labels over the years and this is also not either of the two versions he did for Mercury. The packaging is nice, the selection is good, but the audio quality is horrible.
