I'm loving this book. Easy to read but engaging and thought-provoking. . And a perfect book for challenging times! The first part looks at how all living creatures relate with eachother and exhibit feelings and emotions. Brief examples of other farm animals, such as chickens, are given. The second part of the book gives examples of how individua named cows with differing personalities relate with eachother. Glimpses of the mother-calf relationship, siblings, calves' relationships, older cows, bulls. All vignettes are based on actual experience running a farm with the best interests of animals in mind. It's humbling, non-sentimental,and leads us to question the morality of industrial agriculture.

As good as new. I really enjoyed this book as it gave me an insight into the character of of our bovine friends. On my country walks I have started to look at cattle differently.

Apparently cows have personality’s and this makes for an interesting read. Not for me,but better then counting sheep if you can’t sleep.
