A glimpse of nature before technology ruined it.
The countryside of the 1930s is beautifully described. The farmers knew change was coming and some resisted while others accepted machinery. The old ways of farming where land and nature were respected were on the way out, but the brutal side of the ancient ways is not hidden either. Well worth reading.
