Nice chassis for the money, but needs a few changes.

I had purchased an older RSV-L4500, was happy enough with the chassis for my needs and wanted to transfer 3 other computers to my rack so purchased 3 of the new RSV-L4500U. First off the only difference is that the new variant has usb 3 on the front and the body of the shell is no longer painted black. Here is where the case falls a bit short. The case is just a little too high, so in my 42U rack I have 4 of them right in a row and they drag on each other. I tried adjusting the heights of the rails a little bit to let them slide in and out, no luck. I eventually had to leave a small space in between each unit. Second is the fans, they are Molex, i'd like them to supply 3 or 4 pin PWM fans or just supply the case with no fans and a lower price. And finally i want to touch on the plastic retaining panel that holds the filter in place. It takes 4 screws to remove it an get to the filter which is easy enough but I feel like they could have made the plastic cage just clip in without screws and made for a more user-friendly experience. Also the openings in the plastic cage are rather small and do block airflow. Your options are to take the door off, leave the filter and retaining panel out, or drill additional holes in the plastic to provide better air flow. Other than those things I am happy with the chassis.

Okay server sized for the price

Large, roomy, fans included which are silent.. but include flimsy garbage molex connectors. Never seen anything so cheap. Top is held by silly little miniature screws. Seriously? For a server grade chassis? Who makes decisions like this?! But overall, okay for the price.

  • Great Value

I liked this case because it had enough room for all my hard drives, along with plenty leftover space for extra fans and cable management. The pro of this case having so much room was also my only con, as my standard cables I bought aren't long enough to connect to the drives at the front without a snug pull. I don't like the idea of my cables installed with such tension. Also, front USB could be 3.0

  • Good case for Mining Rig. Not recommended for beginner Miners.

I bought this case with aim of consolidating one of My mining rigs. Already knew that there were some needed modifications to allow it to handle 6-7 GPUs. The front bays aren't needed at all. From there one has to create/fab a GPU mount. I used some thin aluminum bars from Home Depot. The central triple fan mount also has to be relocated. I decided to move it close to the mother board mount and utilize the makeshift GPU mount I created to also have it sit on. For reference so used 3x EVGA 1070 GTX SCs and 3x ASUS 1070 Dual. All 6 fit in there with room for a 7th. I also ended up using 140mm fans vice the 120mm ones for the front. I removed all the control wiring on the right side since the 140s take up space. I've had it running for a day now. No issues except for heat as usual. I would not recommend keeping the stock 120mm at all. They're rated around 43 or so cfm. I'm looking to upgrade them to something that pushes double that along with 140s that push at least 80cfm or so. The best thing about converting from an open air Mining Rig to this case is the amount of space one saves. Plus it's easier on the eyes.

  • Outstanding quality, great value, used in demending environment.

Already bought 5 of these and planning on buying much more. We are building custom high end servers and needed something that can accommodate multitude of configuration (Intel i9, Threadripper, water cooling, plethora of disks, high end air coolers, plethora of disks, etc). These chassis are specious, air flow is great, access to everything is nice and easy. Build quality is top notch, no flimsy metal brackets to cut your hand, no lousy plastic handles that rips apart, it's really built to last, sturdy and solid. Two things I think can be slightly better: The back 8mm fans are cheap plastic garbage, you should replace these. The internal 12mm fans are ok, but are not managed and have low end bearings, but most annoying is are the mollex connectors which are pretty badly done (I actually had one wired in reverse...). Overall it's not nearly show stopper (I've tested all fans under heavy load and they perform quite well) though I'd consider replacing them with managed one. All in all, this is an outstanding product, well worth the money.

  • Good case if you need alot of HDD

The only con I have is that it no longer comes in black. Now I have to paint it myself to match the other servers and rack. Yes, i know but i am anal about stuff like that.

  • Good case at a great price

It is a great case for the price. It feels solid and well built. The fans and filter are an added bonus, and they are reasonably quiet. Getting storage drives installed is a bit cumbersome, but since it is something that happens only once in a while, it is a more than fair trade off. The thing is a monster. Lots of room inside for activities.

  • Great server case especially for the money.

Great beginner server case, it comes with plastic rails to mount the hard drive, just need to by 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch drive bay converters if you want to use SSDs.

  • great storage for NAS

Using as a FreeNAS server and having the ability to have 15 drives and the cooling with 6 x 120mm fans and 2 x 80mm fans on back of case. removed internal middle fan and setup a watercooling radiator for cpu. Working great and keeping system cool.

  • Rosewill RSV-L4500

Given that this is an older discontinued case, I was able to get my hands on a great condition NOS one. I bought it to build a linux-based rackmount server for rendering shaders real-time on a graphics card. This was a breeze to put together, the hard drive cages are really easy to remove and reinstall, there's many opportunities for fan mounting, and it's sturdy plus well built. During assembly I caught myself thinking 'wow! they really thought this out' several times. And I was even able to mount a Corsair H150i Pro (360mm radiator with 3 120mm fans) for my 9900k. If you can find one, nab it!
