Disappointing interpretation of a superior novel.
I read the book which was wonderful: very descriptive and atmospheric. This film was bad.....Large chunks of the book were missing which distorted the timeline meaning it didn't flow. You couldn't invest in the characters like you could in the novel. The acting, from leading actors, was bland and flat. In fact if you hadn't read the book you would find it difficult to guess the back story which is fundamental. I persevered bit wouldn't watch again. The novel .....a completely different situation. I read every couple of years. Donna Tartt's style is superior.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

i think that it may be difficult to follow if you haven't read the book first. if you have read the book first then it is disappointing that the film relies on flashbacks to cover the story and large chunks are missing.
