  • This Scorsese Blues Collection is Life-Affirmingly Brilliant Even if you think that you know The Blues

I previously thought I didn't need this collection as I knew The Blues. Belatedly I came by this and my eyes were opened. Whilst there are some well known tracks in here they are also balanced by many unknown pearls. The collection is also well-sequenced so (as in my case) you keep hitting repeat. So much good stuff from one hit wonder Pine Top Smith to Freddy King's Hideaway and on. You don't even mind a few standards & oddities. The booklet is large and informative. Sadly many of the players died before their time (including Pine Top who doesn't even have a known photo) but what a legacy they left. This collection is utterly life-affirmingly brilliant - 5 stars is not enough.
