Directed by Michael Polish and written by him and his brother Mark (their two previous films are Twin Falls, Idaho and Jackpot), this has a mysterious, dream-like quality, aided by the appearance of four angels. Set in 50s Montana, Northfork is a small town destined to be drowned when the new dam's reservoir fills. As local government teams tour the area ensuring everyone has left, parish priest Father Harlan remains, caring for sick orphan Irwin, who in his fever imagines four angels who promise to care for Irwin, who believes he is a lost angel. The film's colours are leached to an almost monochrome look, giving an other-worldly feel to the lyrically-observed proceedings in a film with as much style as substance.
