Strong and Sturdy
I've been wanting to test drive a stainless steel spade for ages and having previously bought a border spade to test the waters and been pleasantly surprised I thought I'd jump straight in at the deep end with this one. I've recently been digging in heavy clay containing a lot of tree roots and the stainless steel cuts through it like a knife through butter. You still have to clean the blade a lot as you go but nowhere near as much as you would with a conventional spade.The point makes it easier and quicker when you first cut into turf too.The pointed end is also very good at cutting through stoney soil like the chalk that I'm more used to which saves a lot of time and effort and the need to resort to a pick axe straight away. The shaft is sturdy enough and unlike it's main competitor (which I also looked at ), doesn't have any rivets sticking out, meaning it's smoother to use and not as painful on your'e hands if using without gloves on. All in all,a thoroughly impressive bit of kit and if used carefully and properly, should last a long time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
