Being long time Rod Stewart fans, and having seen him twice this year, during his latest tour back at his best, thought the DVD was a "selection" of Live Performances throughout his career, as I interpreted the write up and photos on the cover. Unfortunately all the clips were from one concert in Melbourne in the early 1980s. Although the clips were good, felt the cover was very misleading.
As a massive Rod Stewart fan, I was hugely disappointed with this DVD. The cover is very misleading as the DVD does not feature any footage of the depicted images. Instead, we get tired, low quality video film of a 1977 Melbourne concert (presumably the only film the producers could secure the rights to). Curiously, no image from this performance is featured on the cover. There is infinitely better quality footage on YouTube. This is intercut with interviews with various pundits that are relatively informative, although they provide little additional insight for the seasoned fan. The direction desperately lacks imagination, making the DVD very dull to watch. In essence the entire package smacks of an 'easy buck' rip-off cash-in. All in all, a very poor quality release. I would not even re-sell this on ebay, as I do not wish to let a fellow fan down. Instead, I shall donate it to a charity shop. If you are truly after a quality Rod Stewart DVD release, may I suggest "One Night Only! Rod Stewart Live at Royal Albert Hall". This effectively showcases the man and his talent.
