ReviewsSight and Sound - ...BRASSED OFF rings loud and clear....The music itself is surprisingly rousing and emotional..., USA Today - "...A shining ensemble cast that hits all the right notes..." -- 3 out of 4 stars, Variety - There's a lot to enjoy in BRASSED OFF....[Fitzgerald] proves once again a striking screen presence and Postlethwaite brings natural dignity to the part...

  • Excellent entertaining film

A very entertaining film. The cast all gave top performances and the music was second to none. The film is based on a coal mine pit band during the time leading up to the pits closure. The miners lost of there pit/ jobs and their jubilations at winning the national band contest at the Albert Hall. Followed by the very uplifting playing of the final music against a well filmed final screen.

  • Loved the film

Loved the film, we saw it at the theatre a few weeks ago, hence why we bought the dvd. Really enjoyed it, worth every penny, so many actors in it we now recognise as older actors.

  • Classic

Just taken part in "Brassed Off" as a band member in a local production in Easingwold. It was a sell out over 4 nights. ~It is classic with much humour and political turmoil over an interesting issue. Who would want life as a miner in a dangerous, unhealthy, cramped atmosphere? It was possibly right to move to new opportunities of power creativity. But at the expense of the keeping on board of local communities, work issues, and struggling family living? Politics can sometimes be so insensitive, especially when money becomes a dirty tariff. This film is poignant, emotional, musical life giving, and full of good actors.

  • Good film

Well made film, good story and well acted, you can relate to the characters. Reflects history. Excellent music. Political bias but not overdone, if your going to watch a film about miners and life in that period, this is what you would expect. Definitely worth a watch.

  • This is an amazing movie

With the late great Pete Postlethwaite. I know each to their own, but I thought it knocked the Full Monty into a cocked hat. The music is cool too, I loved it.
