I am very pleased with this soldering iron. It easily compares to the more expensive models. It heats up quickly. I am a weekend/ afternoon user so am not sure how it would performe in an every day heavy use. But it seema like it could handle it. The power saving feature is also cool. It is very good value for money.

Be very careful knocking the iron where it gets hot. I know this because mine stopped working. There is a ceramic stick about 3 inches long if it breaks. That's it & I dnt think it's a part you can replace. So be gentle with the end. Do not try to unscrew to look unless it stops heating up NO! NO! APART d t om that very quick digitally heated. T. I bought a couple of non variable temperature irons. A 12W, a 40W and a 100W. I have several different types of solder. Ther are many different solders and they have widely different melting points and that information is rarely, if ever, on the solder packaging and the same can be said of non variable irons. So i was spending a lot of time trying to get my irons to actually melt my solder. You are working blind. So I bought this variable temperature iron. It's great. All I do is increase or decrease the temperature, which I can see on the display, until my solder melts. It's brilliant. It has enabled me to mark all my solders with their melting points and so I know immediately what setting I need for whichever solder I decide to use. This very useful too when it comes to selecting what solder to use. Helps to protect the components from overheating. Should have bought something like this a long time ago.Read full review

For the price it is much better than expected, it heats up very quickly and the temperature remains stable, I am also impressed how easy it is to change the soldering iron tips. The sleep mode is particularly useful as I tend to leave it switched on, it comes out of sleep mode as soon as you start using it again with only a slight pause for it to reach the set temperature. Only time will tell how reliable it is but I am very happy with it at this time, I have been using it daily for about two weeks and have not had any problems.

Couldn't afford the known usual makes such as Weller etc. Massive difference in price left me dubious about what I was getting into! ,Only been using it for two weeks but must say it exceeds all expectations! Temperature regulation is smooth and rapid & appears accurate. Display is simple & intuitive, docking station is just right. To be honest cannot fault it for the money. As a side issue it comes with good selection of bits & solder caddy I am currently restoring a couple of vintage valve radios, at times I need to crank up heat on account of the task required, this unit has coped no problem. In essence, great value for money and works exceptionally well, but long term reliability is unproven & needs to be tested. Hope this helps.
