Systematic coverage is given to both theory and applications with all basic mapmaking tools presented including formulas, tables and constants., About the Cover: The cover illustration was made by combining three different U.S. Geological Survey digital data sets: a black and white digital orthophotograph, a digital elevation model, and a digital raster image of a topographic map. The observer viewpoint is at an altitude of 1200' above the surface, in the vicinity of Massanutten Mountain, just east of Harrisonburg, VA. The colored lines and areas from the topographic map are transparent so that when combined, the underlying imagery is visible. These data sets are then draped over a surface generated from the digital elevation data. The cover illustrates the flexibility available to the cartographer in creating graphics using computer technology and digital data sets.
I wanted to share what I did when I put this down on the carpet that really helped.
First let me say, that it appears to be as high quality as I could hope for. I went ahead and gave 5 stars, which I try to be frugal about...but there are no apparent reasons to be anything but 100% satisfied with it.
However, when it arrives, of course they roll it up tightly in a long skinny box the width of a basketball pole and height of a grey alien....or was that green? I think their both aout 4 feet tall so who cares.
Anyway, it is very wound up and tough to unroll because the plastic is really thick. This is all good stuff... However, when it comes to laying it down on the ground, it fights back....like a trusty mule with a package of kumquats on it's back, headed for the general store.
So it occurred to me that I just purchased a new Porter Heat Gun last week, so why not use that to help it settle? Indeed, I did just that, and it settled quite nicely! It actually became briefly pliable and really ended up sitting flat on my carpet and looking very nice.
So, if you buy this item, and you have a heat gun....introduce the two as if you were Dr. Neil Clark Warren.
It works for small children and people who weigh under 80 lbs. anything over that weight it doesn't serve much of a purpose. I am 148 lbs and when I sit down the wheels dig into the carpet just as if the mat didn't exist. I can only imagine how bad it is for someone heavier than me. It's cheap in price and quality. But you get what you pay for. Next time I'm just going to spend the $45 and get a nice one that actually works for its intended purpose.
I like the mat. It arrived rolled up, but laid out flat and quickly adapted to the carpet. It stays in place. My chair rolls well on top of it, and I have the added benefit of protecting the carpet from spills. It is very easy to clean, and is not intrusive.
The mat is thin and the chair sinks slightly in the mat so chair does not slide well. Also, the little prongs to catch carpet are too small so the mat keeps sliding to the sides. I have to take the chair off to re- position mat. Maybe for other flooring this would work, but it didn't with mine.
Item is very thin and my chair sinks into it after sitting in for a short time making it hard to move the chair after a short time because of the holes left from my chair. I should have not expected much because of the cheap price.
I knew I was in trouble. It was shipped rolled up. It moves over an inch in less than a day. On top of that, if I set in one place for 30 minutes I find myself having to grab my desk to push my out to get up.
Mat moves around on rug & will not stay in place. Chair wheels sink into the mat & is impossible to roll around on without effort. PVC is too soft & not rigid enough. Plastic smell won't quit.
received item in a timely fashion, quality exceeded expectations, as a earlier reviewer stated mat came tightly rolled and was easily unrolled and usable when using a blow dryer
