In 'Mister Know All' we are introduced to Max Kelada (Nigel Patrick) - the type of big-mouth everyone loves to hate. A jeweller by trade, he goes on a cruise - where his inability to keep quiet leads him into an awkward situation.

These are three fantastic movies, but they don’t play in my computer’s DVD drive, which is how I usually watch DVDs. All I get is a green-flashing screen. The discs are compatible only with standalone domestic players and a TV. I wish I had known this from the outset. I have bought hundreds of classic DVDs down the years. This is the first time any discs have not worked via my computer.

Three distinct DVDs, comprising three B&W Somerset-Maugham films from about 1950. The discs arrived very quickly. The picture quality is very good. Each film tells 3 or 4 different stories of about 30 minutes each, so there are 10 stories in total. The stars are familiar British faces, including a few just before they headed to Hollywood. The stories themselves mostly concern middle class people of the period, or slightly earlier. Most tales are humorous and make an unconventional moral point.
