I bought this DVD without having seen any of the series, after watching Tim Vine doing standup and finding his style of humour very funny. I wasn't familiar with Lee Mack. I wasn't disappointed. I think they work well together, the writing is clever and funny. Overall a very entertaining series so much so that I have now purchased series 2 - 4. If you like good old fashioned "silly" comedy you won't be disappointed.
nice item.

It is a rare day when I write a review of any product but this comedy series really does deserve my time in trying to persuade other people to pick up this DVD. I have never, ever, in my life found myself laughing as much or as hard at any comedy show (or any comedy performance in fact). The jokes fly thick and fast and not one misses it's target. It is clearly a series designed as a vehicle for Lee Mack's (Northerner sharp sarcasm) and Tim Vine's (Southerner dry wit) comedy material but this is in no way a bad thing. Both are comedy geniuses. They are both quintessentially British and, despite the presence of the wonderful American actress Megan Dobbs, the show is just overflowing with everything the epitomises traditional British humour. The show flows well and never stalls or slows down and each 30 minute episode feels half that length. I watched this three hour DVD straight through without actually realising the time - another plus point is that if you are newcomer to the series sitting down to watch this show for the first time with this DVD then clear the next 3 hours. It is very much a case of "I'll watch just one more episode" feeling after watching each one. It may well be that I and my circle of friends are known for being rather sarcastic people which means this comedy appeals to me (and them) more but I personally think this lends the comedy a certain non-OTT value. I actually know people who are just as sharp and witty in their sarcasm as Lee Mack is here and thus I can actually relate to the situation and the comedy in this sitcom. In short, if you like the sarcastic and caustic humour with the memorable one liners like seen in the past in series like Black Adder, Red Dwarf etc then I urge you try this series. It really is worth it.Read full review
Not Going Out is one of the funniest sitcoms on British television. I bought this DVD because I had seen other series of Not Going Out but not series 1. Kate is Lee's American flatmate in this series. Tim also stars as usual. I would seriously recommend buying this DVD if you are contemplating it.
I love this programme.....it is a series of quick 1 liners in their best possible comedy timing form. Lee Mack is sensational and a natural....when you are feeling a little down you just bang on this DVD and you cannot fail to laugh. Quite simply...it is the greatest and funniest programme in british TV history.
An excellent series - witty, well paced and fresh. Lovely, quirky characters you'll remember for a long time to come. It was well received from day one, with the type of humour which appeals to virtually everyone. People have said it's the highlight of their viewing week and it's great to own the dvd; there it all is at the press of a button - humour on tap at any time of day or night. I dare you not to laugh.
I missed the first series on the TV and I was not dissappointed - very funny and I am now looking to buy series 2
Not Going Out, One of the funniest shows I have seen in years. certainly worth "not going out for" so good I was compelled to buy the whole 5 series.
Saw a few episodes on TV and loved it, the whole show it brilliant one liners. It's just a shame it got canceled after the second series, well worth buying, will have you in stitches.
