ReviewsThe Art of Racing in The Rain has everything: love, tragedy, redemption, danger, and--most especially--the canine narrator Enzo. This old soul of a dog has much to teach us about being human., The perfect book for anyone who knows that some of our best friends walk beside us on four legs; that compassion isn't only for humans; and that the relationship between two souls...meant for each other never really comes to an end., I savored Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain for many reasons: a dog who speaks, the thrill of competitive racing, a heart-tugging storyline, and--best of all--the fact that it is a meditation on humility and hope in the face of despair., One of those stories that may earn its place next to Richard Bach's 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull,' Paulo Coelho's 'The Alchemist,' and Yann Martel's 'Life of Pi.', The Art of Racing in The Rain has everything: love, tragedy, redemption, danger, and--most especially--the canine narrator Enzo. • Definite fun read!

The Art of Racing in the Rain is a terrific book. The main character, Denny is a strong person, who experiences life's joys and sorrows. Denny is a fighter and is relentless in the truth even though others are sometimes against him. The author gives life to Enzo, Denny's dog, who is the narrator of this book. We lost our beloved dog to cancer, and this book brought back the beautiful memories of our dog, Hutch. My family is looking forward to purchasing a new pup even more since reading this book! The tributes to the famous race car drivers is awesome.

  • Mark of a Good Writer

One of the attributes we recognize in a good writer is the ability to take us [the reader] and transport us into the imagined and created sphere of reality where he/she is existing at the moment. If you can "feel" the icy gust of wind trying to invade the warmth of your protective Arctic gear, if you feel your eyes tearing from the spicules of ice driven by gale force winds. A good writer can do this for us. And Garth Stein has the ability to do that...serendipitously through the eyes of the lovable Enzo and the human he is guarding and guiding. I confess I read this book once before, but if something is outstanding, if the experience moves you, and remains ensconced in a special place in our psyche, then it is logical and reasonable to repeat that experience. My heartfelt admiration to you, Garth Stein

  • A really great read!

This was the first book I ever read by Garth Stein. I read it on my kindle and loved it so much I had to own the hardcover version and the one I purchased here is really beautiful. Mr. Stein has a unique way of telling a story and he uses words so well. I'm now reading another of his books and will go on to read anything he writes. A Sudden Light is totally different in every way from The Art of Racing In the Rain except for the brilliant writing!

  • The Art of Racing in the Rain made me laugh and cry. I loved it!

The book was wonderful and the condition of the book was also very very good and the price was great. I have given the book to two friends to read and told them about buying a book that interests them on the used book website.

  • Highly recommend

One of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time. If you've ever wondered what your dog is thinking or how much he loves you...read this story. If you're a dog lover it's a must read...since it's told by Enzo, himself. And dogs don't lie (maybe just exaggerate from time to time)!
