A great first/budget projector. Better than new chinese ones for similar price.
The unit I purchased was 10 years old and sub £40. I bought for the occasional cinema experience and wasn't sure what to expect. It defaults to 4:3 display but easily accommodates wide-screen material. There is a special movie mode which will stretch the display accordingly. If viewing cartoons, you can possibly get away with daylight viewing as long as no direct light entering the room. With live action films the room needs darkening to a certain extent. Thin curtains on a dull day is satisfactory, but dark evenings are perfect. Resolution is better than the cheap Chinese projectors I'd been considering and even showing a DVD on a roughly 110" viewing area was thoroughly enjoyable. Admittedly it has no digital inputs, but I use a HDMI to VGA convertor with audio splitter (about £4 eBay) and it accepts Blu-ray, and other HD sources perfectly.
On the negative side, the contrast ratio is poor compared to modern projectors but look at the price! The fan when using the bulb in standard mode is no good for a quiet room, but if you're going for cinema volumes you shouldn't notice. Eco mode reduces the noise significantly but at the expense of a small amount of projected brightness.
Replacement (compatible) lamps appear to be available from around the £40 mark meaning it shouldn't need to be junked when the bulb goes.
