Additional InformationWritten by Dean Craig and directed by comedic veteran Frank Oz, DEATH AT A FUNERAL finds a well-to-do family attempting to bury their patriarch amidst a backdrop of secrets, revelations, rivalries, and illicit pharmaceuticals. While the dutiful Daniel (Matthew MacFadyen) stoically contends with major roadblocks in planning his father's funeral, including being presented with the wrong body, others connected with the family have catastrophes of their own, including the anxious Simon (Alan Tudyk), who is engaged to Martha (Daisy Donovan), and mistakenly takes a hallucinogen to calm his nerves. Lurking in the background is a mysterious stranger (Peter Dinklage) who threatens to send the chaotic proceedings over the brink.<BR>A charming mix of high and lowbrow humour, DEATH AT A FUNERAL is a lively farce that makes the most of its hijinks-filled script and top-notch cast. In addition to excellent performances by MacFadyen (PRIDE AND PREJUDICE) and Tudyk (SERENITY), the film features fine turns by Donovan, Andy Nyman, and Jane Asher. Easily Oz's best movie since the giddily silly BOWFINGER, DEATH AT A FUNERAL showcases the director's knack for working with large ensembles, and will appeal to fans of his earlier romp IN AND OUT, as well as to aficionados of biting British comedy.
ReviewsBox Office - [Director] Frank Oz comes back strong with this absolutely uproarious British comedy of no manners, Empire - ...This is joyfully funny

  • Death at a Funeral (UK version)

I found this film very funny. I usually like fluffy rom-coms but watched this on Prime Video & cried laughing. It's certainly not for everyone as gets quite gross when uncle needs to spend a penny or two but for some unexpected reason this film just tickled me. Arrived quickly (considering Storms Ciara/Dennis) in reasonable condition, plastic was ripped but I transfer all dvds (&CDs) to small plastic envelopes to save room so not a problem. I'm happy with my purchase, reasonably priced compared to most places even for 2nd hand.

  • Hugely Entertaining

Great cast and very funny. This is the original version (not the American version). Humour varies fron subtle to bawdy without becoming vulgar. Well worth watching.

  • Brilliant film - make sure you get the UK actors rather than the American version.

Ideal for an evening's entertainment with excellent acting.

Good fun and such a good cast. I didn't enjoy the US version - too hammy for my taste.

  • Death is Never Pretty

This film is great fun as the funeral unravels with disaster after cringing disaster. It is not a realistic funeral, and was never meant to be, but it reminds me of 'Four Weddings', being typically English, but more extreme. Death is never pretty.

  • Well worth watching.

An excellent British comedy film. The American version is loud rubbish by comparison.

  • Disappointed

A recommendation prompted me to buy it but clearly I don't share the sense of humour of this person. I found it trivial, contrived, and so not funny.
