The 19-mission single-player campaign takes gamers through Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Greece, Italy, North Africa, and the Pacific, and three separate timelines offer a glimpse of war through the eyes of Soviet, German, and Allied troops. There are 50 new playable units, including redesigned tanks, armored personnel carriers, and heavy guns, while in-game videos and more than 100 new sound effects are intended to increase immersion. Multiplayer options include new maps, new "Capture the Flag" and "High-Value Cargo" game modes, the introduction of Japan as a playable nation, and a system of ratings and statistics to ensure fair matches.
