A great film. A worthy adaptation of the book. Sure the book is more informative about what the team did (how they counted cards, the logic they used and the level of maths smarts required) and what they actually achieved in the Vegas Casino's. But the film kind of adapts on the true story and zaps it up a bit. Makes the menacing Casino eye in the sky bloke even more menacing, makes the cool card counters even cooler, the evil team leader even eviler (Kevin Spacy on top form again), and brings the whole thing into a tight digestible story. Well worth a watch if you anything above a slight level of interest in anything Vegas or underdog related.
Excellent stuff. If only you could actually get away with things like this. The casinos aren't stupid and can spot activities like "card counting" very easily. Well played by Kevin Spacey and his students. Definitely entertaining.
This an easy watch film based on the book Bringing down the House. The book is a lot more accurate. The film makes you think if only. A feel good easy to watch movie. Enjoy.
I SAW THIS FILM WITH MY SON WHO IS 17 WE BOTH LOVED THE FILM KEVIN SPACEY IS EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS ITS ABOUT A CLEVER KID WHO ENDS UP IN A SPECIAL CLASS TAUGHT BY SPACEY WERE HE TEACHES THEM TO CARD COUNT AND BEAT THE ODDS AT VEGAS BUT IT SOON ALL GOES WRONG IT IS A MUST WATCH FOR ALL AGES
Kevin Spacey is a brilliant actor and he is fantastic in this movie. His character is introduced to a secretive club of students. They are being trained by their professor in the art of card counting. They then proceed to hit the casinos of Las Vegas. Full of action and a must for your dvd collection. Highly recommend.
VERY GOOD FILM YOU SHOULD WATCH IT..........................................................................................................................................................................................
Roughly based on a true story, this is the amazing tale of some very bright American maths students who came up with a way of winning at Blackjack (aka 21) and proceded to take Las Vegas casinos to the cleaners. The group would spend the week diligently studying but then catch a plane to glittering, sexy Vegas for the weekend and - helped by disguises and fake i.d.s - beat the casinos at their own game. The contrast between rather staid Boston, where they live, and swinging Vegas is great. As is the cast, led by Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne (as a menacing casino security man) and Kevin Spacey (as a bent, scary professor who runs the gambling gang).
