The T5 gearbox on The straight six-engined TVRs and later Rover V8 engined cars is, according to many, to be filled with automatic transmission fluid. That's what I've always filled them with, but a couple of days before a 1000 mile journey I was speaking to a mechanic with years of competition experience & he suggested this Millers oil had much better shear resistance & lubricating qualities. So I drained the ATF, filled with the Millers 75w90 and the result : a really sweet, slick gearchange, slightly quieter box too. Can anyone tell me why ATF is recommended? I'll never put the thin red stuff in a gearbox again.

This is the first time that I have used Millers TRX Transmission oil, although I have successfully used other Millers oils previously. I contacted Millers technical help desk who were very helpful and recommended TRX for my classic car transmission, and another oil for the engine. Normal stock oils are not necessarily suitable.
