As a child I loved Scooby Doo and our toddler follows my footsteps as a fan too!! Sure you can catch an episode or 10 on television, but quite frankly I am never sure which Scooby you will get....the original (and still the best!) or one of the newer versions which confuse me as to what demographic they are actually trying to appeal to with their punk music and rather too intense 'monsters'! This is a great box set....for a reasonable price (which becomes even more reasonable here on ebay!) you get 4 discs which encompass the complete first and second series...over 9 hours which should be more than enough to satisfy even the most ardent Scooby Fan! This breaks down to 25 episodes of the good old fashioned stuff featuring Fred, Wilma, Daphne, Shaggy and of course our illustrious hero - Scooby!! Of course there are also all the extras that a box set will give you: in this case a guide to drawing your heroes and the "Scooby Doo challenge' which is enough to keep the fan occupied a little longer if 25 episodes are not quite enough! What is also interesting about this collection, particularly for the parent, is the evolution of the series from the initial episode right through to the 25th. We see how the series becomes more refined with more detail to the script and ultimately the mystery...of course , your younger viewer will be oblivious to this, but recapping childhood episodes in this way is interesting! This is a great collection and a must for Scooby fans young and old!Read full review
I purchased this particular DVD set as I have been a huge Scooby Doo fan my entire life. It not only has the complete set of episodes, but many extra little features that are great for the Scooby person in your life. I especially liked the added feature showcasing Scooby fanatics homes and all of their Scooby collectibles they have acquired. The packaging was great and the disks all had different Scooby villans pictured on them. The price was amazingly low as I had looked at the same set in many discount stores. About a $20 difference. Let's just say this it was an offer I couldn't refuse. If you're as big a Scooby fan as I am then this set of DVDs is a must have.
This was one of the very first scooby doo cartoons to be put on DVD, Its fantastic , and will keep the kiddies busy and happy. having 5 Children Scoooby was always my best friend, It was my time to getthings done when scooby went on, the kids were busy and i could do the things I needed to. he has been a life long friend to me. and I admit, I have seen every one ofthem, and still own all. they are my litte piece of my kids childhood. Just the music alone make me think back of when my kids were small. I love scooby., what a well thought out series with bright bold colors and a plot in every show. makeing the kids think, nothing like todays cartoons which seem to just leave them looking like zombies. Scooby was a cartton that you had to use your mind and my kids did , they use to sit and guess who the bad guy was, it was adorable. Scooby doo has a place in my home, and heart. a Wonderful cartoon series. Many many stars have even appeared on scooby doo. .. and scooby gets many many a++ and Stars ***** formRead full review
Any Scooby Doo fan will love this dvd set. It's a must have. Warner Bros. didn't mess around with this one. It has every original Scooby Doo Where Are You? episode ever made in broadcast order. The original films have been repaired and remastered to the best possible (considering they are 37 years old). The sound track is mono as was the original series but sounds fine. And for those wanting more, the next Scooby Doo's were in 1 hour format called the New Scooby Doo Movies with the days best guest stars voices. If you still need more look for the Scooby Doo Show included in the DVD set "The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt hour" complete series set. Includes 16 1/2 hour episodes of Scoob and the gang (yes still no scrappy) and 16 1/2 hour episodes of Dynomutt. Anyone wanting to start a Scooby DVD collection should start here with this one. Ebay is the best place to buy it too, it sells for $50.00 plus tax in the stores.Read full review
This four disc multi set has been our families best friend since we bought it. My four year old son has watched it over and over and can sing the song. Scooby Doo Where are You?, first premiered in 1969, and has taken many forms and spin-offs since it's original debut. The first (and I consider the best) 25 episodes are contained in this DVD set comprising of four discs. Like all Hanna Barbera Classic Collections releases this one comes in a cardboard digipack with a plastic slipcase. Each disc opens with a cool animated screen and menus. It has a play all feature which is nice for the kids. The video quality is pretty good considering the source is over 35 years old. There is some dust and debris visible, but it is not severe. The audio is presented in mono and is nice, without much hiss or dropouts. There are English, French and Spanish subtitles and the set is closed captioned. The set features some unique extras, videos, trailers and more. I would have to say that this is one of my favorite cartoons. I grew up watching these and can still, at age 40, enjoy them. I will enjoy watching them over and over again with my children for years to come.Read full review
This is a great collection for anyone who loves the original Scooby Doo classics. I recommend it! I saw this same DVD set at Target for like $50.00, so to get it on ebay a bit cheaper was a deal that couldn't be beat. Scooby Doo is definately one of the greatest cartoons ever created! The old school series is fabulous! Great for kids of all ages and definately a must have have for any Scooby fan. This dvd set is where it all began. Those medling kids get it all going with some classic shows in this set. My personal favorite is "Jeepers, it's the Creeper!" The series is still in it's infancy with this set so there are not any of the great special guest shows with Sandy Duncan, The Three Stooges, The Harlem Globetrotters, etc. What you do get with this set are a boatload of shows, some great classic Scooby mysteries, and those groovy tunes during the chase scenes in every episode. Great for kids, no violence or anything bad and perfect for parties.
It is rare that a cartoon is able to transcend time the way that Scooby Doo has. After many make overs (movies, pup named scooby-doo,ect.) the gang is as popular as ever. I have been a huge fan ever since I was a small child (and have been nicknamed Shaggy due to our resemblance) now Shaggy and Scooby are all my 2 year old talks about. This is a fantastic cartoon that all ages can enjoy. This set is incredible. It has lots of episodes with some cool extra features. I highly recommend this DVD set.
I bought this as a gift for my son who discovered the old Scooby Doo Where Are you show on cable television. I did not realize how much I would enjoy seeing these again - yes even after having to watch the episode with the creeper in it 5 times in a row. It brings you back to the time when you saw these on Saturday mornings as a kid. You have to love the goofy plots, retro music, old style animation, etc. The set has an episode list so finding what you want to watch is easy. A great addition to anyone's DVD collection.
Scoobs is the best! The old classic Scooby beats the pants off of the newer seasons. It's poor voice acting in both old and new, but at least the old versions are charming and pure.
