A very good, reliable b&w film that works well with Ilford's various developers. 400 ASA is handy for gloomy British winters and lets you shoot at reasonable shutter speeds without being wide open all the time. Gets a bit grainy if you over-agitate it during development...be gentle.

I am a professional photographer working in film and only ever buy this particular black and white negative film. Personally, I have this reversed so as to produce positive slides and this process works fantastically with this product. It gives huge tonal range with great shadow detail whilst not burning out highlights. It can be "pushed" easily to 800 ISO without becoming grainy nor suffering loss of quality.

I use this with DD-X developer @ 1/9 - a killer combination. It looks lovely at 800 and pushes very well. Best value for money.

Having used this film for many years, consistent quality. Would continue to recommend without any hesitation.

Great value for a great all purpose black and white 35mm film. Highly recommend for both price and value. Please note when developing this film: this is black and white film, not C-41.
