About this product

Product Information

One of the first and still one of the best, Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way has been the primary resource for any and all who want to master the art of illustrating comic books and graphic novels. Stan Lee, the Mighty Man from Marvel, and John Buscema, active and adventuresome artist behind the Silver Surfer, Conan the Barbarian, the Mighty Thor and Spider-Man, have collaborated on this comics compendium: an encyclopedia of information for creating your own superhero comic strips. Using artwork from Marvel comics as primary examples, Buscema graphically illustrates the hitherto mysterious methods of comic art. Stan Lee's pithy prose gives able assistance and advice to the apprentice artist. Bursting with Buscema's magnificent illustrations and Lee's laudable word-magic, How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way belongs in the library of everyone who has ever wanted to illustrate his or her own comic strip.

  • even if you don't like drawing Marvel Comics still well worth it

after all these years still one of best and most complete how to draw books you can get, I own a lot of drawing books and this one I will keep handy all the time, it's mostly artwork and brief explanations, covers drawing tools, basic drawing techniques with shapes, drawing in perspective, line of action poses, drawing the body, drawing the head for both male and female, composing scenes and story boarding sort of, inking and contrasting colors, types of shots, what more can you ask?

  • The Original---Well worth it

This is the original book on drawing comic art. Two legends in the field--Big John Buscema and pop star Stan "the Man" Lee. It is simple, fun and informative. Yes, there are other more detailed books and publications out there, but this book is what started it all. Great for beginners and as a refresher. I just re-read it as an adult and learned a few things and got a few reminders. Great stuff---nuff said.

  • Why I don’t work a real job

Borrowed this book from a friend in 1987-88ish. Learned more from it than my college experience that I spend a long time paying off. Now I make art for a living. My fellow students now work 9-5 hating their lives. Marvel are why movies are still a thing. You think anyone is going to see a new DeNiro flick in a theatre? Me neither.

  • How to draw comics marvel way

Excellent approach to drawing the "old school" way of comics exhibiting action and telling the story of comic panels. Each chapter breaks down a topic as it challenges you with exercises to sharpen your skills. A very fun book for comic lovers to learn comic drawing from the legends who started it all

  • Stan Lee's own How to Draw book

How can you go wrong when you have a cartoon drawing tutorial book with the stamp of approval from Stan Lee. It was a no brainer to buy this for my Marvel-loving son who likes to create his own comics.
