didn't work for me
Bought this to replace my cigarette lighter (only the insert) for my 996. This required replacing the entire cigarette lighter, not just the insert. Wound up just buying the OEM. I think this has been misrepresented as "genuine" if it's not a part-for-part match.

Doesn’t Fit My 2001 Boxster S (986).
Wrong size for my HK (Made in Germany) Porsche. It’s about 5mm in circumference too large to fit into the dashboard housing.

European versus U.S.--Big Difference
A lesson in "read the description carefully." The product doesn't fit U.S. models, and (I think) would change the fitting so that devices like phone chargers would no longer fit into the receptacle. Moreover, changing the cigarette lighter in a 996 Porsche is not at all straightforward--not a job for an amateur. Because shipping is so expensive from the U.K., this is one purchase that will sit in my parts bin in the garage--returning the product is just too expensive. I'd emphasize, though, it's not the seller's fault, but do your research before hitting the "buy it now" button.
