Already a well-established stand-up comedian, Paul MertonÆs television breakthrough came in 1988, in the improvised comedy show WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? The long-running, topical-satirical, hyphen-heavy panel-show HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU began in 1990; PaulÆs deadpan humour and biting wit instantly delighted millions of viewers, and continues to make the show an unmissable highlight of British comedy TV. His own sketch show PAUL MERTON û THE SERIES (1992-3) saw him delve deeper into his unique world of inventive and surreal humour, and in 1999 he became host of the comedy chat-show ROOM 101. The Collection also features Paul MertonÆs appearances on PARKINSON and CLIVE ANDERSON TALKS BACK, as well as two versions of his acclaimed short film The Suicidal Dog.
