Saw this film some years ago when on holiday in Canada where it was made. Billy plays a very good part mainly because he does not speak - he's a Zombie!!!! His eyes do all the talking but the rest of the cast make up for his loss of words. Sean the dead it ain't but it is a most enjoyable film set in the, easy to believe late 1950's. A little gem and well worth watching.

This film was totally hilarious and Billy Connolly surpassed himself in the main role .I have told my friends about it and they are thinking of buying it.
Great film, Billy Connelly is lots of fun as Fido the pet zombie. Set in a life post zombie apocalype the world has been rebuilt into an urban dream from the 1950s. Zombies are controlled and domesticated by special neck braces and bought as butlers, servants and pets. Children are sent to school with guns to shoot on sight incase a zombie breaks its restraints and starts another war. The zombie (Fido) is befriended by a small boy, but his restaint is a little tempramental and Fido does what zombies do best, leaving the boy to cover up his new best friends deeds. Inspite of the subject matter this film plays like an Episode of I Love Lucy, everything is twee and happy, with neighbours bragging over white picket fences about whose husband has the best job and who owns the most zombies. A great feel good kind of film, with some nice comic touches.Read full review
If anyone tried to pitch this movie to a major U.S. studio, especially with Billy Connolly in the leading role, they'd very likely be escorted from the building by security. Thanks God for the Canadians then, who've seen beyond what looks like quite a poor idea on paper and make a unique zom-com worthy of more attention than the usual devotees of zombie culture. The idea is simple, involving a strong retro 50's scenario where the cold war isn't about reds under the bed, but zombies who have been trained to make them. Connolly plays the title charactor Fido with a surprising gentleness and range, not least because he doesn't have any dialogue beyond zombie toned moans. His relationship with the family is central to the whole story and he turns out to be a zombie with a heart of gold, add to this amusing retro newsreel reports, and the ever present evil mega corporation and you have yourself a great little film with a unique angle.Read full review
