Reviews3.5 stars out of 5 -- "The bedrock combination of redlined guitars and Mark Arm's adenoidal wail has only been rendered more caustic by two decades...", 4 stars out of 5 -- "Arm's glass-half-broken philosophizing on 'The Open Mind' and 'Inside Out Over You' feels like the poetic howl of the last sane man alive.", 4 stars out of 5 -- "Arm remains angry and driven on new album THE LUCKY ONES, as amply displayed on bile-filled tracks that owe a lot to FUNHOUSE-era Stooges...", 3 stars out of 5 -- "Pitched somewhere between the Blues Explosion and Grinderman, it's an awesome racket...", "The lolloping, chaotic garage squall of 'The Open Mind' seems to pour directly from their warped minds into your ears through some kind of unholy telepathy....It's a thrill."
A totally amazing album by a time honoured band who seem to improve with age. This is one of the best studio representations of a band's actual live sound I have ever heard. All of the performances are totally inspired and the compositions are as unique as they are on any Mudhoney album I have ever heard.
I am really glad I own this album now as their back catalogue is not as well distributed as it should be so being able to click and collect at Argos at a bargain price is just sensational service.
