  • Breathtakingly Brilliant!

Despite being a soul fan for over 45 years I had never realised what a talent Roy Hamilton was. I was obviously familiar with Cracking Up Over You but had never paid much attention to his other work. I'd known a little about his mid to late 50s material but nothing much about his AGP and other RCA output. I then heard a few tracks of his on the Rare Collectable & Soulful (RCA), various artists cds and took a punt on this cd. His versions of Conway Twitty's, It's Only Make Believe and James Carr's Dark End Of The Street are simply astounding, demonstrating the full range of his wonderful, soulful voice. Likewise his superb cover of the Drifter's Let The Music Play is equally brilliant. If you are a soul fan, with a broader, more educated taste in music, this cd is a MUST BUY. WONDERFUL!!
