To be honest, while this has had limited use, what I've experienced so far I like. As my title indicates this unit is very user friendly. The joy stick-like navigation with menu items is smooth and easy. What I also like about this is there are a limited amount of buttons on the side. Unlike those of cell phones they need an extra amount of effort to push which eliminates accidental engagement. The screen, although small at 2.2 inches is very bright and adjustable to conditions. The step up of internal memory is a huge plus enabling the uploading of 1:250 topo maps. I purchased this with confidence that it will play an important role in my adventure to Australia this winter. I will gladly provide an update upon my return.

Much of the programming was by hit or miss. The little start up guide that came with it was not helpful. I am usually fairly good at figuring things out, but if you have never used a handheld GPS it was very difficult to figure out without instructions. Seems to work correctly when it was finally programmed for what we wanted it to do.

Not being experienced with GPS units, I found the Garmin Etrex 20x very easy to learn and use! The smaller size fits neatly in my pocket or backpack. The screen, while a little small, is very clear. Finds and locks onto satellites quickly. Easy to set way points and create routes. This device, with the added TOPO US 24k maps, is great for my hiking, hunting and fishing needs!

Garmin Etrex 20x is a steal for the price offered. Its east to use, has a long battery life, and you can load free maps onto it via its basecamp PC app, after downloading from internet. My only complaint is that when being used, the device is very slow to load map detail, like an old phone. Its something i can live with though, and happy with purchase!

We recently went on a road trip to Glacier National Park (3200 miles worth). I bought the Garmin so we could take all the back roads we wanted, seeing some of the most beautiful out of the way places. Most GPS's are so small that you need a magnifying glass to see them, with a 15 in screen on my laptop it was great, nice big picture. It was funny though, our 3 year old granddaughter wanted to see movies while driving, so we were trading off using the GPS with her watching Sponge Bob. The Garmin has so many features that it was easy to find places, motels and pretty much anything we needed. Only draw back I see is charging the computer, we took care of that with an inverter which I already had. Highly recommend a Garmin Laptop GPS. Would also suggest some kind of computer mount, we had no real problems because it sat nicely on the console in our Ford Expedition.Read full review
