I'm fascinated by the Mongol empire of Ghenghis Khan & his successors, as well as ancient & medieval history. This is a pretty faithful film covering the story of Marco Polo & his fater & uncles journeys & service to the Mongol great Khan Kublai. It takes time to fully tell the story, well acted & with great authentic costumes & scenery. I'm not aware of any "Hollywood" twisting or distortion of the story, which is refreashing. So I thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes a while to get along to the start of the journey, setting the scene & background of Marco. It's lovely to see a film given the time to tell the story in full rather than edited down to the minimum. I enjoyed Leonard Nimmoy's(Spock from Star Trek) part as a Mongol govenor. He played it very well & prooves he's not just a one-role actor. I'd recomend this film to anyone interested in medieval history, the orient, or just a cracking story; who has the time to enjoy this 4-2 hour or so-disc box set.Read full review
Not as interesting as I thought it would be. The content was very basic for 4 discs Marco Polo was a famous explorer, not much exploring going on. Very slow
