The front of this cable modem provides the user an easy-to-read display, where they can check whether their Motorola SURFboard SB5100 is connected. Blinking lights will also indicate upstream and downstream of data being transferred. The back panel of this cable modem indicates the connections available to the user. These are Ethernet, USB, and coaxial cable hook ups. There is also a 12-volt outlet for the power connecter cable. This Motorola cable modem is designed to be installed virtually without any software needed. However, the Motorola SURFboard modem does come equipped with a CD containing all the necessary drivers. This cable modem provied users with real-time online access. Up to 63 users can connect to one Motorola SURFboard SB5100 simply by using a hub via Ethernet.
