IMO Crime and Punishment is the greatest novel I've read. There have been other films made from it but none seemed to get Raskinlikov in the way I feel he should be portrayed. (I know it's personal) John Simm is the closest. The rest of the characters were also portrayed brilliantly, especially Sonia and Porfiry. It's a shame that some of it had been left out, especially Marmeledov's drunken speeches, but I suppose a television film can't be exactly true to a novel written in the mid 1800s.
