Additional InformationMAN ON A WIRE is a spellbinding documentary that chronicles the stunning achievement of one Philippe Petit, a French-born performance artists who walked a hire wire between the South and North Towers of the World Trade Center in New York during the seventies. The stunt--six years in the planning--involved meticulous organization and was completely illegal. Not content attempting the death-defying feat once, Petit would complete the walk 110 floors above the streets of Manhattan eight times, only stopping when he was arrested. Directed by British filmmaker James Marsh (THE KING, WISCONSIN DEATH TRIP), MAN ON WIRE celebrates this truly incredible event and sheds light upon the man that made it happen.

  • One of the greatest documentaries ever made.

Philippe Petit, a young french juggler and high wire (tight rope) walker, had already walked a wire between the two towers of Chartres cathedral, and towers of Sydney harbour bridge, when he read a magazine article about the proposed twin towers of the New York world trade centre. He resolved to walk between these towers. He had to do it guerilla style as he would never have been given permission. And he succeeded, including smuggling a ton of equipment to the tops of both buildings. And he and his friends video'd how they did it. This is a glorious, riotous story, brilliantly told.

  • Fantastic Story

Unbelieveable film if you suffer with vertigo don't watch this film, the times I felt I was on the roof with them is a testament to the cinematography. Charming and witty and just great to watch a film that shows the essence of what truly awesome people (some may say insane) can do. Well worth a watch.

  • ABSORBING

This documentary is really fascinating and one of the best I've seen, The story is so absorbing and remarkable and will make you feel dizzy if you don't like heights. It's now a piece of history as the twin towers are sadly no more.

  • Brilliant

An interesting film, found it nailbiting in places. I have GREAT respect for Phillipe for his head for heights, especially at the end ( wire across the twin towers ).
