    Comes alive on Dual 604

Installation was easy if you have nimble hands and fingers, helps to have a removable cartridge mount head like the Dual 604.Just made it to the edge of the head mount and I aligned using a turntable protractor Baerwald type. When aligned properly using the protractor it visually looks off kilter when aligned with the lines of the protractor. As for performance, it seems to be getting better after playing about 30 albums so far during break in. Mid tones are clean and precise , highs are there and lows are tight and not over pronounced. I am tracking at the recommended 1.8 g. I used a digital cartridge scale for accuracy which was off by about 2 tens of a gram manually. This Cartridge/stylus is very very quiet, You have to listen carefully during quiet passages to tell it is a turntable, good improvement over my old 70s ADC cartridge. Overall pretty happy with it.

  • Most critical review

    Average performer

Not an offensive sound but after my Denon 103 needle snapped, this guy was a quick fix. Over hyped bass and sluggish mids with a flat high end. A very un-dynamic sound, not unflattering, if you have a Technics 1200 and need a nicer cart try this out, good for rock and hip hop. But if you are a HIFI listener with a tube system I would give it a miss and spend twice the money elsewhere. I'll just get my Denon re-tipped...thanks.

  • Well, worth the effort- awesome cart

Barring the minor difficulty in setting up this cart- given its screw and nut design, this cart performs very well. Well rounded bottom end and less aggressive enjoyable top end with more pronounced mids - all these even as it’s yet to fully break in. I am thoroughly pleased with the cart, the seller, Kazar-35 and eBay.

  • One of the best entry level cartridges out there!

This is a very well rounded cartridge and stylus, able to handle various different venues of music with the same mostly natural sound. I found the bass to be very good without booming, the mid's to be nice and flowing with a very good natural soundstage to them and the hi's to be heard but not over bearing. The mid's are where the MP110 shines...very smooth. It's not the cheapest cart out there, but certainly not the most expensive. If you're looking for a very good entry-level introduction to vinyl, you can't go wrong with this one.

  • MP 110 amazing cartridge

Have been eyeing it for quite some time now. Not a replacement but a switch out for a sumiko pearl. Two amazing cartridges. The Nagaoka has a more pronounced high end(not bright) just a beautiful sound well balanced. As far as ease of set up, I have it on a Micro Seiki Dq3 with a grace 545 arm and grace headshell. With the right tools (ie scale and protractor) its a breeze. For the price it out shines many(only my opinion).

  • Wonderful improvement.

Noticeable improvement over the standard Rega Carbon it replaced. Much better mid definition and much more detailed music. You can hear the bow work on stringed instruments rather than just hearing notes for instance. Vocal harmonies that used to run together are defined as different vocals, etc. Highly recommended. If you're a Rega user, this is 2 mm taller than the Carbon at least. So you'd need to adjust the tonearm. On RP1, I bought a 2mm lower acrylic platter to compensate.

  • Good cartridge - just not for my Pro-ject turntable.

Based on many online reviews here and other sites, I purchased this for my Pro-ject Carbon Debut in replacing an Ortofon 2M Red. However, this cartridge is not a good match for this turntable. It brings out a lot more detail than the Red and that is good, but the bass and lower mid-range is non-existent, producing an overall "tinny" sound, at least to my older ears. All my mistake and it seems to be a great value play - just not with my turntable. I do plan on keeping it though and will try it on the second turntable I am buying in the near future. The product came and was very neatly packaged with all accessories.

  • Possibly best entry level audiophile cartridge+needle

Best value out of the needles around the same price (120 dlls), paired with a good turntable, good phono preamp, good amp and good speakers should be the best you can get at an entry level audiophile cart+needle. Extremely well balanced, maybe the bass is not that well defined but it's not boomy either, in general it excels at everything in it's price range.

  • Truly amazing sound!

I linked this cartridge to my recently acquired SL1210, which came with an OM10 (excellent until I heard the Nagaoka.) The difference was a revelation! On my oldest mono recordings (1962) of the Bach Brandenburg Concertos it was impossible to believe that I wasb't hearing stereo. I have never heard this kind of detail in my vinyl records before. It was like having the orchestra playing in my room - the sound stage was so realistic. I couldn't quite get a perfect tracking line with my stylus protractor, even at the furthest forward end of the tone arm shell, but it was pretty close. At 1.5 grammes, this is the best sound reproduction that I could possibly experience. Thank you so much! Paul Manton

  • Best MM Cartridge?

It's not often a product comes along that exceeds beyond its price, and in the case of the Nagaoka MP-110 it does this and some. Sounding very high end when partnered with a respectable Turntable and Phono Stage, you're presented with sparkling detail and dynamics, and a great stereo sound stage. For a real genuine improvement, you would have to upgrade to the MP-500 which is almost four times its price. If you're thinking of getting back into audiophile Vinyl again, and you know the value of a good Turntable, Cartridge, phono stage, amp & speakers, and decent cables etc The Nagaoka MP-110 will please 99% of audiophiles.
