I got this Vaughan 10 ounce straight claw hammer to replace one I lost in a move 10 years ago because i got tired of dragging out a 16 ounce hammer to hang pictures and to do minor repairs. Bottom line is that this 10 ounce hammer is more than adequate for most household chores that involve a hammer and nails, and it's a lot easier to use and control than a heavier hammer. As I recall, this model was once referred to by the manufacturer as a cabinet maker's hammer and that seems to be an appropriate designation. Well made and nicely finished with a smooth face and a hickory handle. The rip style claws also make it ideal for opening paint cans.
